Beach With The Kids? Here Are 21 Fun Activities For Them!
Going to the beach with your kids?
Our family loves day trips to the beach. We bring along our kids, and to keep them from getting bored, here are some fun activities they do. You can also do these with your kids for a fun day with the family!
Have a good ole beach water fight with water guns
Hopefully, you don’t soak anyone else by accident.
Construct a sandcastle
Who doesn’t enjoy constructing sandcastles with a moat around them? When I start a project, I find that it doesn’t take long for the kids to become engrossed in it and take over the whole project within a few minutes.
Toss rocks to fill a bucket with pebbles
My husband enjoys tossing pebbles into a bucket set up 10 feet away from his seat. He hasn’t even begun tossing when both boys join in.
Let’s see how big or how deep they can make a hole.
It’s a work of art that can take an hour or more to complete. Our five-year-old enjoys digging, and sand on the beach is ideal. He’s dropped three to four feet in front of me.
Excavate waterways
Water channeling is one of the most popular activities among children. There’s no better way to do it than at the beach. This could be a long-lasting activity.
Take a swim
What’s a beach day without a dip in the water? It’s entertaining for all.
Walk around
What’s a day at the beach without a stroll along the shoreline?
Fly a kite
The beach is an excellent spot to fly a kite whenever it is windy.
Find 20 beautiful shells to add to your collection
Shell collecting is something that my five-year-old enjoys doing. He’ll go on and on about it for a long time. Many of his friends do the same thing.
Climb up and balance on driftwoods
Our two sons enjoy climbing and jumping off of driftwood.
Bring your bubble machine
This summer, we purchased a bubble machine, and our boys are completely enamored with it. It’s perfect for the beach or anywhere else outside.
Soccer, catch, and frisbee
If you want to engage in some sporting activity with your family, my husband would always bring a frisbee, soccer ball, or a tennis ball and gloves to play with the family.
Sleep for a while
While most children refuse to take naps, it only takes a few minutes of lying down in the afternoon for them to fall asleep.
Investigate the geology
Exploring large rocks on the beach is a lot of fun.
Toss rocks as far as you can
A challenge that excites kids and adults alike: test their ability to throw rocks a long distance. Make sure there aren’t any swimmers in the vicinity.
“Can you hit “X” with a rock?”
My husband enjoys tossing rocks at various targets in the hopes of hitting something. The kids get involved when he does it.
Hunt crabs
My younger brother used to enjoy hunting for small crabs when he was younger. This has a lot of kids excited.
Create a tunnel under a driftwood
This is another activity that involves digging and would take your kids a long time to do.
Build a raft by dragging large logs into the water
Our five-year-old enjoys raft-building and floating on logs. It’s a lot of fun to make rafts and boats from large pieces of wood found on the beach.
Gather some seaweed
While not all children are interested in seaweed, ours are. They enjoy collecting it and drying it on the beach.
Gather “X” tokens
Suggest that the children go out and collect something (shells, seaweed, cool rocks, etc.).
